Chosen Answer:
Well I think you really just need to try it for yourself. Everyone will have a different reaction. I hear a lot of people it works wonders for. I had wanted it, but it is so expensive, so I asked for it for Christmas last year. My cousin bought some for me. As it turns out she has been using proactiv for a little over a year now and it SHOWS! She used to have acne- I’d say not crazy insane- but more than just a few, it was like red and blotchy and white-head like. Kind of nasty. Anyway she went to a dermatologist who recommended she try that FIRST, and if that didn’t help he was going to write her a prescription. Anyway she did and she LOVES it- she said after about 6 weeks pretty much all of her acne was gone. So now it’s been like almost a year since last christmas and I saw her last week and her skin is still as clear as ever. She is 16 also. Anywho- back to my story. She got me the proactiv for Christmas, I tried it and the first day my skin felt SO SOFT! It was awesome! I did everything as recommended. The second day my skin was okay but I could feel bumps to the touch. No one in my family could see them though. I read that it was normal- your skin being purged or whatever. Later on in the third day, after I had used it that day, my skin and neck and parts of my ears were ALL RED and bumpy! It kind of hurt- felt almost like a sunburn. Everyone could see it, I thought it looked so disgusting! I was so embarrassed. I got online and researched that there are many people who cannot use proactiv because it uses Benzoyl Peroxide – I must be one of those people. All the people who had bad reactions had similar results as me. They all said to STOP USE- that it is NOT the impurites coming out and it won’t get better. So- I didn’t use it again. It took over a week for my face to stop being red and I had more zits after that! Ugh! So- I looked for something better, I now use Biore in the shower- it is an ice cleanser – and that is it. I switched my makeup to Bare Minerals- and let me tell you—– it WORKS! I love it! It looks natural and I rarely have a zit anymore! IF I do get a zit it is because it is the “time of the month”- from that. But ever since Bare Minerals my skin is great. And it is really no lie that I have had a few people literally tell me I have lovely skin. Haha. I know that sounds dorky- but it did happen, two times so far! :o)
As far as the proactiv I had leftover since I didn’t buy it I gave it to my cousin, and she still uses proactiv and still swears by it. Hmmm. To each their own. The good thing about proactiv is now you can buy a trail kit and they do have the money back guarantee. So if you want to then try it out- if it doesn’t work then send it back. I do think that my changing my makeup helped me alot. And I didn’t use bad makeup- I buy from the Clinique line- and that is supposed to be good makeup. But the Bare Minerals was my savior. :o) I have turned a lot of people on to it who have seen my results- plus the makeup is good for your skin.
Alrighty, I hope I helped some. Good luck making your decision!!! Also keep hydrated- that helps with your skin a lot, lay off soda and sugary stuff. (as a side note)
