Post Traumatic Stress Disorder????

post traumatic stress disorder????

Psychology
hi.
3 years ago I had a 2 year relationship with someone who was psychologically abusive. He would constantly compare me to his ex and would ‘gaslight’ me by not calling for a lonnng time and then calling really late at night acting as if nothing happened.
I was too confused to this ‘alien’ behavior to understand at the time.
He subtly belittled me. etc.

I found out he was still talking to he ex on the phone, found a ton of naked polaroids of her in the room we slept in, and he cheated on me with some other girl. Basically I found alot of this information all out at once, which was very traumatic for me. Then when i confronted him he told me to ‘get out’ and when i refused, he walked out and that was the last time i saw him. No closure, no explanation, no empathy.
Alot of other ‘stories’ but you get the gist.

it seems like people get cheated on all the time, and i’m almost embarrassed to admit how it triggered this severe depression, and at times, suicidal tendencies. I guess it was the being treated little a little piece of trash.

I’m moved back in with my mom (i was 20. i know very young. no judgment please. abuse is abuse)
He immediately started up this photo blog with exhibitionist photos of him in sexual situations with his new girlfriend. Alot of naked pictures.

I started picking at my face and back. I had clear skin but now 3 years later I’m dealing with a pretty bad acne problem from this anxiety. I started reading books about Narcissism and the shoe fit perfectly. The book said victims should get therapy after those kind of relationships. I never did.

Anyway three years later I’m afraid to leave my house. I still do, but i have a fear of people that i never had before.

could this be ptsd, or is that too much of an extreme condition. I have an irrational fear of people. Im good at covering it up, but i have a thresh hold for how long i can fake it (which has been hard for me to hold a job, or make new friendships) I’m unemployed right now because I’m afraid of people.

Should I be getting therapy. or going to some sort of support group?

Any suggestions or similar expiriences??
oh yeah, and when we lived together it was my first year of college. I haven’t gone back to school since then, out of fear.

Chosen Answer:

definitely get therapy. it’s severe anxiety that’s causing the problems you have now and it will only get worse. get therapy while you can still leave the house or it will probably develop into full blown agorophobia. i’d recommend hypnotherapy. i had it for a phobia and it got rid of it within 3 months plus helping with a host of other things
